Starting on the ground floor
When we first walked into this basement space, it included the normal cool concrete floors and spiderwebs in the corner. But this family had a vision to segment this space into workable zones in the larger open area, and several rooms separated with pocket doors.
A Cozy TV Space
The main area of this finished basement includes a sectional couch focused on a large screen TV and in wall fireplace unit. Build in cabinets were added on either side for additional storage for board games or more records. Fluted trim was added to the TV area to add texture and dimension on an otherwise basic bumped out wall.
Separated Hangout Zones
Behind the cozy TV zone sits a built-in seating area with high stools and a large countertop and a dry bar area with more additional storage. A faux brick well and industrial style chandelier helps build out a small seating area in the back of the room perfect for a game of cards during a late night hang.
What’s Behind The Doors?
While a finished basement can include lots of open area spaces, sometimes people need a closed door for more privacy or hide messier areas. This 430 square foot area had been segmented with walls and pocket doors to include a home office, a workout space and to hide an unfinished area with their laundry machines and additional storage. Pocket doors are a great solution in basements to help save space from swinging door movement. These grey tone doors also help add a pop of color and character to this efficient use of space.
